The Fare Logistics TransFare™ fare system suite has a smart solution for farebox revenue processing. Monies collected in the Voyager’s electronic cashbox are easily removed using either of our two vault solutions. Each of these vault solutions has a secure money vault which has separate compartments for coins and currency.  Regardless of the selected solution our secure revenue processing procedure requires four simple steps to complete, and the processing is not dependent on data downloads being completed.

Farebox Revenue Processing – Four Step Process

  • Step No 1 – Tap the specially encoded smart card to the farebox smart reader,
  • Step No. 2 – Open the farebox door and remove the cashbox vault,
  • Step No. 3 – Insert the cashbox into the vault receiver,
  • Step No, 4 – Remove the emptied vault and return it to the farebox.

Two Secure Vault Solutions

Our Stationary Wall Vault is design to be permanently installed within the bus service facility at a location where all vehicles must go to after their shift. This all steel unit is secure and when installed only the receiver head is visible and accessible.

The stationary wall vault unit consists of two components, a;

  • Cashbox Receiver – with its secure revenue transfer unlocking mechanism that is common to all Fare Logistics farebox collection equipment.
  • Stationary Wall Vault – a vault housing securely installed on the inside of the outer wall of your cash room or cash vault and anchored to a concrete pad.

The Fare Logistics mobile vault/receiver unit allows a transit agency to securely remove cash from the Voyager Farebox cashbox in any location within a maintenance yard. Rather than each vehicle being brought to a central revenue processing location, the mobile receiver/vault is brought to the bus. The mobile vault can also be locked down using a secure locking mechanism which allows cashboxes to be emptied without the mobile vault moving. Typical installation of the mobile vault is beside the stationary unit, providing the facility of two receiver/vaults at the revenue processing location.  The use of the mobile receiver/vault is the same as the wall vault.

Data Transfer

The TransFare™ secure wireless system also permits our proposed AFC solution to be free of the traditional “tethered” Farebox data probes.  The TransFare™ system and its wireless communications application, permits all farebox transaction and event data to be securely transmitted, automatically, once a bus enters the yard or operations area, and successfully negotiate a “hand shake” with the system. The average download for a day’s worth of transactions is less than one minute. Using this process to download and upload data has permitted the removal of the tethered probe devices which has constrained the size of the farebox operations area. In addition to increasing the size of the farebox service area, and reducing the time it takes to complete the revenue servicing tasks, the fact that no human intervention is required in order to download and upload data means that the drivers and mechanical staff can concentrate on other tasks associated with the regular servicing of the buses and the Voyager Farebox components.
