Fare Logistics is a company specializing in the design of electronic fare collection systems for the public transit industry. Based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Fare Logistics focuses on products for the small to medium-sized public transportation agencies. Fare Logistics started operations in the late 1980’s with development of a proprietary card payment system for use in multiple applications (i.e. transit, parking, etc.). By 2002, Fare Logistics had switched development streams and began development of our first generation of Farebox, the TotalFARE system. The TotalFARE system has the capability of processing magnetic and smart fare media. This first generation product was updated in 2004, and by that time Fare Logistics had installed the TotalFARE system into six public transit agencies. All six of these installations were with magnetic and smart card components.
In 2004, Fare Logistics also began work on our second generation Farebox, the Voyager system. Designed to replace the TotalFARE system, it was during this development, specifically in 2005, when Fare Logistics received new financing through new ownership as well as a new management structure. This new management structure achieved the first Voyager installation in 2006 in Tallahassee Florida, a transit agency with more than 80 buses.
Fare Logistics as of today has its fare system products installed in 9 public transit agencies across Canada and the United States. These projects all involve smart fare media as well integration with other regional area operators.
The Fare Logistics corporate office is located in Victoria, British Columbia. This office is dedicated to Research and & Development, Sales, pre and post-sales support (including Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMA’s) for hardware repairs), procurement, central corporate administration and project management support.
